Welcome back to my blog. As you remember, my theme is race. During the colonial period, this theme was mostly a matter of slavery. Slaves came to America from Africa through the Middle Passage. The voyage to the new world was terrible for them. The conditions were terrible and the would lie naked in filth. When slaves arrive to America, they would go to South Carolina, the center for slave trade. I used this link, click on Chapter 1.

Hello I am writing this blog for a project in my U.S. history class. My teacher asked to choose one of the six themes of American history. Out of the six themes, I chose the theme race. I chose this theme because there are a lot of racial issues occurring in the U.S. today leading to black people dying in the streets and having less rights compared to what they hard 10 years ago. One thing that stands out to me that relates to this issue, is that NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick refuses to stand up for the national anthem as a protest. Kaepernick thinks that by sitting down he can make a statement to other people and he won't stand up until something is done about the issue. I read this article, at US News. This article is composed of many different news websites coming together to great it. This provides many viewpoints to the action and it isn't biased towards a specific side of the incident.
