Hello I am writing this blog for a project in my U.S. history class. My teacher asked to choose one of the six themes of American history. Out of the six themes, I chose the theme race. I chose this theme because there are a lot of racial issues occurring in the U.S. today leading to black people dying in the streets and having less rights compared to what they hard 10 years ago. One thing that stands out to me that relates to this issue, is that NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick refuses to stand up for the national anthem as a protest. Kaepernick thinks that by sitting down he can make a statement to other people and he won't stand up until something is done about the issue. I read this article, at US News.
