As you remember, my topic is race. Race during the time of the Civil war was mainly on slavery. Southerners relied heavily on slaves to produce their main cash crop cotton while the northerners' view on slaves died out. Because of the looks on both sides of the country, the Civil War broke out and changed slavery completely. After reading this article on the outbreak of the Civil War I now know how important it was for the slaves to escape to the north to be free.
